Testosterone tied to heart risks among older men

By Genevra Pittman NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Older men who take testosterone are more likely to have a heart attack or stroke or die over the next few years, new research indicates. Most of them already had blocked heart arteries, high blood pressure, diabetes and other health problems. So it's unclear what the findings mean for younger, healthier men who take testosterone, researchers said. "It does kind of raise the question of, maybe when patients and their physicians are thinking about starting testosterone therapy, potential risks such as the ones we looked at should be in that discussion," said Dr. P. Michael Ho.
