Five utility workers injured in New Jersey house explosion

(Reuters) - Five New Jersey utility workers suffered minor injured in a house explosion while responding to reports of a gas leak on Tuesday, officials said. Homes in the area already had been evacuated when the blast in Stafford Township, about 85 miles south of Newark, went off at mid-morning, said Michael Kinney, spokesman for New Jersey Natural Gas. The injured were all New Jersey Natural Gas employees and were taken to hospitals, Kinney said. Robert Cavanaugh, a spokesman for Southern Ocean Medical Center, said the workers were being treated for minor injuries.
